Sober Living Program

A Structured Path to Lasting Recovery

N.E.S.T. Housing Inc. is developing a safe, accountable sober living program designed specifically for participants in the Montgomery County Drug Court program.

Step by Step

How the Program Works

Our planned sober living home will be more than a place to sleep — a structured environment built around accountability, community, and the daily habits that make recovery stick. Here is how the program is designed to work:

01

Referral from Drug Court

Residents will be referred directly through the Montgomery County Drug Court. Eligibility will begin with active participation in the Drug Court program.

02

Intake & Orientation

Upon acceptance, residents will complete an intake process and receive a full orientation to house rules, expectations, and available support resources.

03

Structured Daily Living

Residents will follow a structured daily schedule that includes curfews, chores, house meetings, and required participation in recovery activities.

04

Accountability & Progress

Regular check-ins, drug testing, and court reporting will keep residents accountable while staff provide encouragement and support throughout the journey.

05

Transition Planning

As residents near completion, staff will work with them on transition planning — employment, independent housing, and continued recovery support.

Resident Journey

The N.E.S.T. Flight Plan

Every resident enters as an Egg with unlimited potential. Through structure, accountability, recovery, education, and service, they grow into an Eagle capable of building a life of independence — while lifting others along the way.

The Egg represents possibility. Every resident arrives with potential, even if they don't yet see it themselves. The priority is creating a safe environment where healing can begin.

Goals

  • Complete intake and orientation
  • Establish sobriety and accountability
  • Meet with counselor / case manager
  • Develop an individualized recovery plan
  • Learn house rules and expectations
  • Attend required recovery meetings
  • Create a daily routine

Expectations

  • Focus on yourself
  • Be honest
  • Show up every day
  • Accept guidance

"Every new life begins with a single step."

The N.E.S.T. Philosophy

At N.E.S.T. Housing, we believe that every person possesses an inherent worth that addiction cannot erase and that recovery is not simply the absence of substance use, but the restoration of purpose, character, and hope.

Like a nest that provides shelter before flight, we believe healing begins in an environment where people are safe enough to be vulnerable, challenged enough to grow, and supported enough to succeed. Lasting transformation is built through compassion balanced with accountability, grace paired with responsibility, and encouragement strengthened by consistent action.

We believe every resident is capable of rising beyond the circumstances that brought them here. Through meaningful relationships, life-skills development, service to others, and personal responsibility, individuals can rediscover their strengths and build lives marked by dignity, resilience, and independence.

The journey through N.E.S.T. is not measured solely by days of sobriety, but by the growth of confidence, integrity, and purpose. As residents progress from Egg to Eagle, they become living reminders that transformation is possible and that recovery has the power to restore families, strengthen communities, and inspire hope in others.

Our greatest success is not when someone leaves the nest — it is when they choose to return as a mentor, lifting others with the same compassion, guidance, and belief that once helped them learn to soar. In this way, every life transformed becomes the foundation for another life restored.

Requirements

Who Is Eligible

N.E.S.T. Housing Inc. is designed to serve a specific population. Please review the planned eligibility criteria.

Active Drug Court Participant

Residents must be active participants in the Montgomery County Drug Court program. Referrals will come directly through the court.

Commitment to Sobriety

All residents must be committed to maintaining sobriety. Zero tolerance for alcohol and drug use will be strictly enforced.

Willingness to Follow House Rules

Residents will agree to abide by all house rules including curfews, chores, mandatory meetings, and respectful conduct toward housemates.

Participation in Recovery Activities

Residents will be required to actively participate in recovery-related activities such as 12-step meetings, counseling, or other approved programs.

Employment or Active Job Search

Residents will be expected to maintain employment or be actively seeking work as part of building a stable, self-sufficient life.

A Vital Partnership

Our Drug Court Partnership

N.E.S.T. Housing Inc. is being developed in partnership with the Montgomery County Drug Court — a specialized court program that offers eligible individuals an alternative to incarceration through structured treatment and supervision.

When launched, Drug Court participants who need stable housing will be referred to N.E.S.T. Housing Inc. as part of their court-ordered recovery plan. This partnership will ensure that housing, accountability, and court requirements are all aligned.

Our close relationship with the court means future residents will have a support system that extends beyond our walls — case managers, judges, and court staff who are invested in each person's success.

Removing Barriers

Transportation Assistance Planned

N.E.S.T. plans to reduce transportation barriers by providing transportation assistance for approved program and recovery-related appointments, employment, and essential services, based on availability.

Lack of reliable transportation is one of the most common obstacles residents face in early recovery. Whether it's getting to a court-required appointment, a job interview, or a recovery meeting, N.E.S.T. is committed to helping residents show up — because showing up is everything. Transportation assistance is planned as part of our program when we launch.

Based on availability

Transportation assistance is coordinated through staff and is subject to vehicle and scheduling availability. Residents are encouraged to discuss transportation needs with their case manager during intake.

Community & Joy

Sober Fun is Real Fun

Recovery isn't just about what you stop doing — it's about rediscovering who you are and what brings you joy. N.E.S.T. residents will participate in regular sober activities that build community, reduce stress, and prove that life in recovery is full and meaningful.

Outdoor Adventures

Hiking, fishing, nature walks, and camping trips that will reconnect residents with the outdoors and build camaraderie away from the house.

Community Cookouts & Meals

Shared meals and cookouts will be a cornerstone of N.E.S.T. life — food brings people together, and breaking bread builds the bonds that sustain recovery.

Game Nights & Movie Nights

Regular game nights, board games, and movie screenings give residents a chance to laugh, unwind, and enjoy healthy entertainment together.

Music & Creative Expression

Music, art, and creative outlets are encouraged as powerful tools for processing emotions, building identity, and finding purpose beyond addiction.

Community Service Events

Giving back is part of the N.E.S.T. philosophy. Residents will participate in community service projects that build pride, purpose, and a sense of belonging.

Special Outings & Events

Sporting events, local festivals, volunteer days, and seasonal celebrations give residents experiences to look forward to and memories to build on.

"Sobriety doesn't mean giving up fun — it means finally being present enough to actually enjoy it."
